If we humans could have converted a desert into the best thing posiible, it would have been Vegas.. the sin city! It's a must see place for anyone who visits the west of the United States & is above 18 years of age. So when you plan a trip to Vegas, it would help to try & follow the following do's and don'ts. For that matter, it always helps to do a little bit of research about any place that you plan to visit. Sometimes there are very obvious things that might not occour to you either due to excitement, hurry or focusing on other things.

1. Try & stay in a hotel which is centrally located. The south strip (the Las Vegas Boulevard is also referred to as strip) is more happening, lively & lit up and is thus considered more safe & fun. The north is also worth visiting, however I recommend staying in the center or south since one mostly travels on foot.

2. Carry at least one pair of comfortable shoes. The strip is approx. a 4.2 mile stretch, besides the hotels themselves are pretty big with their casinos, shopping malls etc. So carry them or else you would also be one of those tourists who walk barefoot with their shoes in their hands. There are buses which cover the strip & you might want to take a day long pass if you plan to go from end to end.

3. Its advisable to carry a small water bottle with you, however, if you dont want to carry it, it is easily available on most parts of the strip. There is a Wallgreens store next to Venetian which is open 24 hours in case you need anything. They also have $1 Las vegas fridge magnets & other nice souvenirs which would cost you around $5 each on the airport.

4. There would be a lot of people on the streets trying to hand over nude pictures to you. If you think you might get offended or uncomfortable, just don't extend your hand out, and they would get out of your way. But the fact is that even the people who take them just throw them on the street, so they are lying everywhere. If you have children in your group, you might want to speak to them in advance.

5. A lot of people jokingly call Las vegas as 'Lost wages'. That's because if you do not make the right choices about the places where you eat or about the shows that you watch, you might end up spending your annual savings over one trip. So do some research & book your show tickets in advance. try not to plan your trip in the busiest season when you do not get reasonable hotels. Eat at Subway, Chipotle or McDonalds once in a while..

6. Choose a hotel according to your group. If you are travelling with family, try staying in a 5 star or a 4 star hotel. The 5 stars are not very expensive in off season & during weekdays.. while the 4 stars are affordable.. Try to avoid 3 stars since they come pretty cheap & could have all kinds of people staying there.

7. Coming to gambling..Well, if you go to Vegas, you have to gamble.. but do it till you know when to walk out. Make you gambling budget in advance & devide it by the number of days you plan to stay in Vegas. When you are winning, know when to grab your winnings. When you loose, stick to your budget.

8. Some of the free to see places are really beautiful. Don't forget to see the musical fountains at Bellagio, Lion habitat at MGM Grand, the Gondola rides of the Venetian, the Conservatory at the Bellagio, the statues in the Forum shops of Ceaser's Palace..

9. There could be some people who wish to sell you discounted ticketsĀ for shows, rides as well as give you free passes for night clubs in return of attending a time share presentation at some of the upcoming/newer hotels. Do not agree if you are short of time.. It always takes more than they promise. Also, if you know you are not going to buy it, try not going in the first place because its too much pressure and its not worth the discounts.

10. Finally, do not venture into dark alleys or lanes at night. The strip is very well lit up & you will find touristsĀ even at 3 am around south & central strip. Most hotels have one or two 24 hour bars & eating joints. Also, a lot of hotels are connected internally.. its shorter, warmer, with walk ways & escalators .. I am sure it would provide some relief to your tired feet at the end of the day..
